Dr. Fred Garner, a Harvard trained Board Certified Pediatrician, has

practiced General Pediatrics since 1966. Counted amongst his finest

achievements are his family of seven children, six grandchildren and

his wife Connie. Five of his children are working as teachers in the Fairfax

County School System.


Professionally, Dr. Garner:

graduated from Duke University with a degree in History and the Medical College of Virginia as Valedictorian of his class.
was a Teaching Fellow at Harvard during his graduate training at Children's Hospital Boston
taught, practiced and did primary care research at Pennsylvania State University's Medical School at Hershey, PA
chaired the Quality Improvement Committee of INOVA Fairfax Children's Hospital for 17 years
has served in various consulting capacities to Virginia Medicaid Services and insurance companies
has been a principle investigator in more than 250 children's vaccine, antibiotic, allergy and asthma research studies.
has a special interest in children with disabilities and chronic diseases

Most recently Dr. Garner was appointed to the affiliate faculty of George Mason University in the Volgenau School of Information Technology and Engineering where he is participating in Internet-based Pediatric primary care triage development and research using "Learning Agent" (artificial intelligence) technology. Also in collaboration with other George Mason University faculty, Dr. Garner is spearheading the development of a curriculum designed to teach healthcare consumers to navigate our U.S. healthcare system. Dr. Garner likes to imagine that he is living in Colonial America and is a compatriot of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin.
