Burke Pediatric is proud to be the 1st pediatric practice in the Nation to be recognized for prescribing patients 'Perscriptions for Food' as a pilot in the 2017 Summer Feeding Program. Covid Update: NEW BOOSTERS and FLU Vaccine 9/14/2022
WE RECOMMEND BOTH FOR EVERYONE !!!!!
Burke Pediatrics now has Covid "BIVALENT" booster vaccine for anyone over 12 who has had 2 original vaccine doses with or without an initial booster. These vaccines ( Pfizer or Moderna) are mRNA and can be taken by anyone who has had the original 2 Covid vaccines. Pfizer can be taken by anyone 12 years or older; those who want Moderna must be over 18 years. You and/or your child should be 2 months after your last vaccine or 3 months after a Covid infection. BOOSTERS ARE RECOMMENDED FOR ALL OVER 12. ( No unusual side effects have been documented with these Covid vaccines ; the rate of myocardditis remains less than with the disease itself. It is rare, usually mild, in young adult males , recoverable and statistically less serious than Coviid disease can be.)
If you have not had any COVID vaccine ( anyone over 6 months of age), its not too late to get the original vaccine and then the new BIVALENT booster two months later. The bivalent vaccine can not be given to anyone without 2 previous doses.( bring your card).
All patients receiving Covid vaccine must remain in the office for 15 minutes after the dose is injected!
Flu Vaccine is also here now; again recommended for all.
Both vaccines can be taken at same time.
We recommend wearing a mask ( N95, if possible) when in any building, particularly schools. We require a mask to come into the office.
